Programmer job categories

Game Programmer
Job Outline Using game engines and libraries, program the main body of games along the lines of set specifications. Considering the needs of the team to which they are assigned, programmers will be in charge of one or a few of the following items depending on ability, experience, aptitude and preferences of the individual:

  • Creation of character actions for the player and enemies etc.
  • Creation of character AI for the player and enemies etc.
  • Creation of structures for event progression control
  • Creation of structures for controlling displayed effects
  • Creation of structures to control the render of backgrounds
  • Creation of every type of screen, including menus and modes
  • Creation of structures to control UI’s
  • Creation of structures for network communication
  • General programming for the creation of video games
Application Requirements
  • Individuals who can use C++ for object orientated programming
  • Individuals with experience in game development using C++
Preferable skills and experience

  • Experience in using 3D graphics for game development
  • Experience in using game engines, especially Unreal Engine 5, for video game development
Technical Programmer
Job Outline Customizing game engines and libraries, creating tools and shaders, offering technical support, and providing the fundamental foundations for creating game software. Technical programmers will be in charge of work of a technical nature, and within a field which needs a high standard of specialized knowledge, may be assigned a specific area of expertise depending on individual experience:

  • Creation of shaders
  • Creating the needed tools for game production
  • Technical support for game creation
  • Testing and implementing middleware
  • Customizing engines and libraries
  • Creating physics systems
  • Creating AI systems
Application Requirements
  • Experience in creating programs, as well as a working knowledge of game engine and game library structures
  • An interest in the technical aspects of a new game, and an ability to collect up information
Preferable skills and experience

  • Experience in development using compute shaders
  • Experience in developing game engines and libraries

Network Programmer
Job Outline
  • Implement network elements for household console/PC games
  • Implement mechanisms for matchmaking, lobbies, ranking placements, and P2P connections, among others
  • Implement integration between networks and UIs
  • Utilize Unreal Engine and/or our original game engine for carrying out tasks
  • The main language used will be C++

  • Submission of past or current projects that utilizes C++ for networking elements

 
【Mid-careers】

  • Able to carry out object-orientated programming using C++

・Employee placements will be determined through consultation.
・New employees for Tokyo and Osaka studios will undergo a training period of 2-4 weeks following their starting date. The training sessions will take place at the Fukuoka Main Office.
 - The company will cover transportation and accommodation costs incurred during the training period.
Working hours 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (including 90 minutes of breaktime composed of a morning, lunch, and afternoon break).
If you have finished your tasks for the day, you are free to leave the office after 6:00 p.m. Clocking out between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. will count as having worked until 6:30 p.m.
Salary

[New Graduate]

You are assigned a class based on your technical skill and have periodic opportunities to make advancements in your standing and salary.

【1】Junior: Monthly salary of minimum 231,000 yen *Your salary may be higher in accordance with your technical skills.
*Breakdown of salary calculations: Base wage of 160,000 yen, Class Allowance of 45,000 yen, Fixed Overtime Allowance of 25,000 yen, and Technical Skill Allowance of minimum 1,000 yen.
*Your salary includes 15 hours of fixed overtime pay.
*You are not allowed to work beyond the allotted overtime hours.
*Salaries for all Juniors for the period from when they first join the company until their first evaluation will be 231,000 yen across the board. Salary increases will be determined during year-end evaluations (end of January) based on ability and performance. There is also the opportunity to be promoted to Intermediate class following the mid-year evaluations (end of July) and year-end evaluations (end of January).
*If you are still a student and plan to start working before graduation, you will be paid an hourly rate until graduation (we will convert the prescribed monthly salary into an hourly wage).
Juniors will start with a three-month training period. Juniors should aim to become a full-fledged/Intermediate employee within one to three years of joining the company while working under the guidance of senior staff.
【2】Intermediate: Monthly salary of minimum 271,000 yen *Your salary may be higher in accordance with your technical skills.
*Breakdown of salary calculations: Base wage of 160,000 yen, Class Allowance of 55,000 yen, Fixed Overtime Allowance of 55,000 yen, and Technical Skill Allowance of minimum 1,000 yen.
*Your salary includes 30 hours of fixed overtime pay.
*Extra overtime pay will be issued for overtime that exceeds the allotted hours.
*Intermediate class staff should be able to handle their work independently and with sufficient proficiency.

[Mid-career]

Monthly Salary: There are 2 levels to the salary structure based on performance reviews.
Depending on your experience and skill, we will decide which level you will start from.

[Regarding the healthcare insurance system in Japan]
Workers who belong to a Japanese organization or company are required join the official health insurance system. After joining, the fees for healthcare are reduced (An individual only need pay 30% of the total fee) in the case of injury or illness, and a lump sum will be paid for childbirth and childcare. The fee for the insurance will be deducted from your salary each month.
